(Un)real electronic life...

After a couple of days away from any social activity, and i mean on line of course, i came across two interesting posts, one by Weller and the other one by Seth, and the basic is that on line friends are not as good as they may seen, or that at least you should have "normal" friends, just in case something goes wrong, like you Internet access doesn`t work or you computer for some reason just doesn`t work (and by the way, have you seen that computers act like human in bad situations, they only "say" something when somethings wrong: "Your email as not been sent").

Or as in Weller post, for some strange reason people tend to see things in a wrong perspective, because people in order listening to what another person is saying is not a bad thing, i`m afraid this may shock you but you are not forced to be there, and as far as i know multitasking is not a good thing, at least if you are doing it simultaneously...

I will finish with a quote from one of my favorite writers on this subject, Clifford Stoll:
"Electronic communication is an instantaneous and illusory contact that creates a sense of intimacy without the emotional investment that leads to close friendships."

Clifford Stoll, Silicon Snake Oil, 1995
